Kathukkutty (2015)

Kathukkutty is a 2015 Tamil village drama set among the farmers of the Thanjavur region. Narain, known from Chithiram Pesuthadi and Anjathe, plays a happy-go-lucky young villager whose days are spent on romance and mischief with his friend, played by the comedian Soori, until a proposed project to extract gas from the fertile delta land becomes a threat to the farmers' way of life. The film moves from light village comedy to a socially conscious drama about agriculture and land, a subject that was the focus of real protests in the region. Srushti Dange plays the female lead.
