Mansukh has ruined his father's matchmaking business with one disastrous wedding after another. Desperate to prove himself, he takes on an impossible client: Indu, the feisty sister of a Mumbai gangster family who will only accept a police officer as her husband. Mansukh finds Bahattar Singh, a Punjabi hulk with a crooked family of his own, and passes him off as a cop. The deception grows more elaborate as both families move closer to the wedding, and real police and real villains get involved. Khiladi 786 is the eighth film in Akshay Kumar's Khiladi series, which began in 1992, and was co-produced by Akshay with Himesh Reshammiya, who wrote the story, composed the songs and plays Mansukh. It was Asin's second pairing with Akshay after Housefull 2 the same year.
