Kirayedar (1986)

Kirayedar ("the tenant") is a 1986 Hindi comedy directed by Basu Chatterjee, the master of gentle middle-class comedies such as Chhoti Si Baat and Khatta Meetha. Raj Babbar and Padmini Kolhapure lead the cast, with Utpal Dutt, a regular in comedies of the era, and the story is built around a tenant and the household he lives in, finding its humour in ordinary situations rather than slapstick. A light, everyday Hindi comedy from one of the genre's most reliable directors.
