Giri is a constable at a police station in a hill village on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, sharp but touchy, and unable to forget an insult. To take revenge on those who humiliate him, he begins sneaking into their homes at night as a thief, while by day he is the policeman investigating the very burglaries. Then a string of mysterious deaths in the area pulls him into a far darker case, one linked to rumours of black magic. Kooman ("owl") is a thriller from Jeethu Joseph, the director of Drishyam, written by K. R. Krishna Kumar, who also wrote his film Twelfth Man. Asif Ali's layered lead performance and the misty, isolated setting create a slow-burning, twisty mystery.
