Kuldip Patwal (2018)

Kuldip Patwal is an ordinary man from a modest background who is arrested for the murder of a powerful politician. He insists he did not do it, but the evidence, the police and public opinion seem to be against him. A sharp-tongued defence lawyer takes up his case, and as the trial unfolds in court and in the media, the story of who Kuldip is, and what drove the events, emerges in flashbacks. The film uses the framework of a courtroom drama to poke fun at the political system, from vote-bank politics to sloganeering, with Deepak Dobriyal in the title role, Gulshan Devaiah as the lawyer and Raima Sen as the prosecutor.
