In Kunwara Govinda plays a carefree young man whose love life turns into a mess of lies, borrowed identities and misunderstandings when he finds himself posing as a husband and juggling two women, played by Urmila Matondkar and Nagma. The film follows the familiar formula of the director and star's many hits of the 1990s: rapid-fire mix-ups, comic set pieces with Kader Khan and Johnny Lever, and song-and-dance numbers built around Govinda's dancing. It came near the end of the long string of comedies the director and star made together.
