Kurubana Rani (1998)

Kurubana Rani ("the shepherd's queen") is a 1998 Kannada film directed by D. Rajendra Babu, one of the most successful family-drama directors in Kannada cinema, starring Shiva Rajkumar opposite Nagma, who was then a major star in Tamil and Telugu films. As the title suggests, it is set in a rural, pastoral world and centres on romance, family honour and the hero's fight against those who wrong his people. It combines village sentiment with songs and action in the style of the era's Kannada mass films.
