Kurukshetra (2019)

Kurukshetra retells the Mahabharata with Duryodhana, the eldest Kaurava, as its central figure: proud, loyal to friends such as Karna, and convinced of his right to the throne of Hastinapura. The film moves through the rivalry with the Pandavas, the game of dice, exile, Krishna's peace mission and the gathering of armies, building to the eighteen-day war. Made on a lavish scale in 3D, it was Darshan's 50th film and the final screen appearance of veteran star Ambareesh, who played Bhishma and died before its release. The cast brings together several generations of Kannada stars, with Arjun Sarja as Karna and Ravichandran as Krishna, and the film was also dubbed into other Indian languages.
