Kutty, a free-spirited student, falls instantly for Geetha, a quiet girl at his college. But Arjun, the spoilt son of a local politician, has already forced her into a relationship with threats. Rather than back off, Kutty openly declares his feelings to her and makes a strange pact with Arjun, and the two men's competing ideas of love play out over the months that follow. Kutty is the Tamil remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arya (2004), directed by Mithran Jawahar, who had earlier remade Yaaradi Nee Mohini. Devi Sri Prasad reused and reworked his popular songs from the original. Dhanush's energy and comic timing carry the film, with Shriya Saran as the heroine.
