Laila (1984)

Laila is a 1984 Hindi romantic drama directed by Saawan Kumar Tak, the filmmaker known for emotional, music-led melodramas. It stars Anil Kapoor at the very beginning of his run as a leading man, Poonam Dhillon, and Sunil Dutt in a senior role. As its title, a byword for doomed love, suggests, the film is a story of love and sacrifice told in the heightened style of the era.
