Lakshmi is a schoolgirl who dances whenever she thinks nobody is looking, much to the worry of her single mother Nandhini, who has her own reasons for disliking dance. When Lakshmi sneaks off to audition for a big national dance contest, she finds help from Vijay Krishna, the quiet owner of a café near her school, who turns out to know a great deal more about dancing than he admits. As the competition rounds approach, the two form a bond and old secrets start to surface. Lakshmi is built around its dance sequences, with Prabhu Deva sharing the screen with Ditya Bhande, a child dancer who had become well known from a televised dance contest. It is a warm family film about talent, encouragement and following your passion.
