Lal Darja (1997)

Lal Darja ("the red door") is a poetic Bengali film by Buddhadeb Dasgupta, one of the major figures of Indian art cinema. Its hero is a man whose comfortable urban life has become empty and anxious, and the film moves between his present loneliness and memories and fantasies from his past. Like Dasgupta's other work, it uses dreamlike images and a slow, reflective style. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.
