Lal Haveli (1944)

Lal Haveli is a 1944 Hindi film directed by K. B. Lall, made in the years when Noor Jehan was one of the biggest singing stars of the Bombay and Lahore studios, before she moved to Pakistan after Partition. She stars opposite Surendra, the singer-actor who was often cast as a romantic lead in the musicals of that decade. Like most films of its period, it is built around its songs, sung by the leads themselves. It is of interest today mainly as one of the handful of Hindi films from Noor Jehan's pre-Partition career.
