Lal Salaam (2024)

In a village where Hindus and Muslims have long lived side by side, cricket is everything, and the rivalry between two local teams gets out of hand after a match, setting off a chain of events that splits the community along religious lines. Thiru, a hot-headed young cricketer, and Shamsuddin, the son of the respected businessman Moideen Bhai, are at the centre of it, and old wounds begin to reopen. Lal Salaam was directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and features her father Rajinikanth in an extended special role as Moideen Bhai, the voice of harmony and reason. A. R. Rahman composed the music, and the film uses sport as a way into a story about faith, politics and coexistence.
