Maanavata (1972)

Maanavata ("Humanity") is a 1972 Hindi social drama directed by Tapi Chanakya, starring Swaroop Dutt and Radha Saluja. The story turns on a priest's daughter who is seduced and left pregnant by a man who then escapes overseas, and on the hardship, shame and moral questions she and those around her must face. It is a little-known film of the early 1970s, made at a time when Radha Saluja was a familiar heroine in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema.
