Maanthrikam (1995)

In Maanthrikam ("magical"), Mohanlal plays Stephen Roy, an officer who slips into a criminal gang involved in a conspiracy against the nation, posing as one of them and winning the trust of its members while gathering the evidence to destroy it. Raghuvaran, the great screen villain of the era, plays the menacing figure at the centre of the network, and Priya Raman is the heroine. Directed by Thampi Kannanthanam, who had made Mohanlal's landmark Rajavinte Makan, it is a fast, glossy action film with an international flavour that was unusual for Malayalam cinema at the time. S. P. Venkatesh composed the music.
