Paaru, a free-spirited young woman, moves into an old house in a small coastal town and finds that the previous occupant has left behind walls covered in drawings and a half-told story in pictures. Curious about the man who made them, she begins following the trail he has left among the townspeople, each of whom seems to have been touched by him in some way. The man is Maara, a wanderer who drifts from place to place helping strangers and never stays long. Maara is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit Charlie (2015), retold in its own way. It is a gentle, dreamy film built on mood rather than plot, with Ghibran's music and the coastal settings as much a part of its charm as Madhavan's easy-going lead.
