Vijay Antony plays a seasoned cop hunting a killer whose victims are found with their bodies mysteriously blackened, a detail that links the crimes to something beyond ordinary violence. The trail leads to a strange young man, played by Ajay Dhishan, and the investigation becomes a battle of wits shaded with hints of the uncanny. Maargan was the directorial debut of editor Leo John Paul and the screen debut of Ajay Dhishan, Vijay Antony's nephew. Vijay Antony also produced it and composed the music, as he often does for his own films.
