Majestic (2002)

Majestic is named after the bustling bus-station area at the heart of Bangalore, where its hero, a young rowdy with a quick temper and a loyal gang, makes a name for himself among the city's small-time criminals. A romance with the heroine, played by Rekha, pulls him between the street life and the hope of something better, while rivals and the police close in. Directed by P. N. Sathya, the film gave Darshan his first lead role after years in small parts, and its success made him one of the biggest mass heroes in Kannada cinema. Its raw, street-level style became a template for the rowdy films that followed. The Hindi dub is titled Shakal.
