Sairam, an assistant manager at a supermarket, is desperate for a promotion and is tempted by a dishonest way out. Gayathri, a homemaker, is stretched thin by her family's demands and her own ambitions. Abhiram, an engineering student, falls hard for a classmate and lets everything else slide. And little Mahitha befriends a poor boy and goes out of her way to help him. Chandra Sekhar Yeleti's film cuts between these four lives, each building to a moral choice, and only near the end shows how they fit together. It was one of Mohanlal's first Telugu films as a lead, made in the same year as Janatha Garage, and was also released in Malayalam as Vismayam and in Tamil as Namadhu. A quiet, humane family drama.
