Maniyar Kudumbam ("the Maniyar family") is a 2018 Tamil village comedy-drama written and directed by Thambi Ramaiah, best known as one of Tamil cinema's busiest comic character actors. He cast his son Umapathy Ramaiah in the lead, opposite Mrudula Murali, and plays a major role himself. The film is set in a rural household whose old standing in the village no longer matches its finances, and it mixes family squabbles, romance and broad comedy in the style of 1990s Tamil family entertainers. It is a gentle film best suited to viewers who enjoy village settings and ensemble comedy.
