Manjunath (2014)

Shanmugam Manjunath was a bright young graduate of IIM Lucknow who joined the Indian Oil Corporation as a sales manager and was posted to Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. There he found petrol pumps selling adulterated fuel, and despite threats and pressure he insisted on sealing them. His murder in 2005 shocked the country and became a symbol of the price paid by honest officials. Sandeep A. Varma's film tells his story with a mixture of realism and dark humour, moving between his family in Karnataka, his idealistic college days and his stubborn stand in the field. Newcomer Sasho Satiiysh Saarathy plays Manjunath, with Seema Biswas as his mother.
