Ramu, a gentle and unlucky young man living in Hyderabad, travels to his ancestral village in Rayalaseema to sell a piece of land he has inherited. On the train he meets Aparna and they hit it off. What he does not know is that his family has a decades-old blood feud with a powerful clan, and that Aparna is their daughter. Her father and brothers are waiting to avenge an old killing, but they are bound by one rule of hospitality: no guest may be harmed under their roof. So Ramu tries never to leave the house. Maryada Ramanna is S. S. Rajamouli's comedy between his larger epics, inspired by Buster Keaton's Our Hospitality, with comedian Sunil as an unlikely hero and a talking bicycle voiced by Ravi Teja. It was a big hit and was remade in several languages, including in Hindi as Son of Sardaar.
