Lakshman Bheri is a railway protection officer who cannot keep out of trouble, a man whose habit of interfering wherever he sees wrong keeps getting him transferred. His latest posting sends him to a remote area where the ganja trade is run by a ruthless smuggler, played against type by Naveen Chandra, and where the local people live under his control. Lakshman takes the gang on with his usual mix of cheek, comedy and fists, with Sreeleela as the heroine. Mass Jathara was billed as Ravi Teja's 75th film and marked the directing debut of writer Bhanu Bogavarapu. It reunites Ravi Teja with Sreeleela after Dhamaka, and the music is by Bheems Ceciroleo, who also scored Dhamaka. It is a full-blown commercial entertainer made for fans of the star's energetic screen persona.
