Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin (2004)

Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin ('my wife is matchless') pairs Sridevi and Akshay Kumar in an action comedy about a newly married couple. Their domestic life is soon disrupted by gangsters, with Gulshan Grover among the villains, and much of the comedy comes from the spirited wife's way of dealing with trouble. The film was shot in the mid-1990s under director Pankaj Parashar and then sat unreleased for years before finally reaching cinemas in 2004, which is why it shows its stars at an earlier stage of their careers. It is one of the rare screen pairings of Sridevi and Akshay Kumar, and part of the run of comedies in which Sridevi showed her flair for slapstick.
