Mirza Juliet is a 2017 Hindi romantic drama set in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, a world of local strongmen, politics and fiercely guarded family honour. Pia Bajpai, known for her Tamil and Malayalam films, plays Juliet, a spirited young woman whose brothers wield power in the town, and Darshan Kumaar plays Mirza, the man she is drawn to. As the title suggests, it transposes the old tales of doomed lovers, Mirza-Sahiban and Romeo and Juliet, to the Hindi heartland, with Priyanshu Chatterjee and Chandan Roy Sanyal in supporting roles.
