Mission 90 Days (2007)

After a former Indian prime minister is killed by a suicide bomber at an election rally in Tamil Nadu, a special investigation team is formed and given a deadline to find the people behind the plot. An army officer with commando experience, played by Mammootty, is attached to the team, and the film follows the slow, painstaking hunt through safe houses, informers and false leads as the conspirators move from hideout to hideout. Mission 90 Days is closely modelled on the real investigation into the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. It was written and directed by Major Ravi, a former army officer who served with the National Security Guard and drew on his own experience of that period; he had earlier made Keerthi Chakra with Mohanlal. Tulip Joshi and Lalu Alex are in the supporting cast.
