Moksha (2001)

Moksha ("salvation" or "liberation") was the only feature directed by Ashok Mehta, one of India's most admired cinematographers, who shot films such as 36 Chowringhee Lane, Utsav and Bandit Queen. It stars Arjun Rampal, in one of his first films, and Manisha Koirala in a serious drama with a crime and social backdrop. The film was made over a long period and released in 2001 to little attention, so it is now something of a lost work. It is of particular interest to viewers curious about how a great cameraman approached directing.
