Description

Divya is a lively college girl in Chennai who agrees to an arranged marriage only under family pressure. Her husband Chandrakumar is gentle and patient, but she still carries the memory of Manohar, a fiery, charming rebel she once loved, and soon after the wedding in Delhi she asks for a divorce. The law requires them to live together for a year first, and as the months pass in a strange city the couple slowly begin to see each other differently. Mouna Ragam, 'the silent melody', was Mani Ratnam's breakthrough film and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. Ilaiyaraaja's songs and background score and P. C. Sreeram's soft, glowing photography are legendary, and Karthik's short, high-energy role as Manohar became one of the most celebrated cameos in Tamil cinema.
