Karan is an easygoing young man with no particular ambitions until the day he sees Pooja and falls hopelessly in love. He manages to become her friend, and over time she comes to depend on him, but every time he tries to tell her how he feels, something gets in the way, and then Pooja's future begins to take her far away from him. The film is a gentle, old-fashioned romance about unspoken love. It marked the debut of Tusshar Kapoor, son of Jeetendra, who won the Filmfare award for Best Male Debut, and came in Kareena Kapoor's first year as a heroine. It is a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Tholi Prema, and Anu Malik's title song was a big hit.
