Bose is the boss of the porters at a busy vegetable market, loud, fearless and loved by the workers he protects. His fights with the powerful men who exploit them bring him into politics, and he rises all the way to ministerial office, only to discover that the system he now belongs to is more crooked than the market he came from. Chiranjeevi, at the height of his fame as Telugu cinema's biggest star, plays the role with his trademark mix of dance, comedy and action, with Meena and Roja as the heroines. Muta Mestri ("head porter") was directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy, his frequent collaborator, and its songs by Raj-Koti were hits.
