Mythri (2015)

Mythri ("friendship") is a 2015 Kannada social drama about children in juvenile homes and the circumstances that put them there. A bright boy from such a home gets a chance to appear on a quiz show hosted by Puneeth Rajkumar, who plays a version of himself, and his story becomes linked with that of Mahadev, a man with a violent past played by Mohanlal. Director B. M. Giriraj, who had made the acclaimed Jatta, uses the format to talk about neglect, reform and second chances. The film was praised for its message and for bringing together two big stars from different industries, and Ilaiyaraaja composed the music.
