Naani is a little boy tired of being told what he can and cannot do, so when a scientist offers a formula that will make him an adult overnight, he leaps at it. The next morning he is a young man, played by Mahesh Babu, with all of a child's innocence and mischief. He falls in love, tries to make his way in the adult world and has to keep the truth from his widowed mother, played by Devayani, who believes her son has vanished. S. J. Suryah directed the film as a Telugu version of his own Tamil film New, released the same year, with A. R. Rahman composing for both. It gave Mahesh Babu an unusual, playful role far from his action image, and Ameesha Patel plays the heroine.
