Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA (2013)

Years after his rise from small-time local fixer to legislator, Amavasai now calls himself Nagaraja Cholan, M.A., M.L.A., and he is as cunning and unprincipled as ever. With an eye on the top job, he plays rival parties against each other, buys loyalties and twists every crisis to his advantage, while a group of activists and a few honest people try to stop him. Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA is the sequel to Amaidhi Padai (1994), the much-loved political satire in which Sathyaraj first played the character, and it was written and directed by Manivannan, who co-stars as his loyal sidekick Manimaran. It was Manivannan's 50th film as a director and his last; he died a few weeks after its release. Its sharp jokes at the expense of Tamil Nadu politics made it a talking point.
