Nam Naadu (2007)

An idealistic young man is drawn into politics and, to the surprise of everyone, becomes a member of the legislative assembly. His trouble is that the corrupt system he wants to clean up is run by people he knows well, and his own father is among the most powerful and compromised politicians in the state. As he exposes one scandal after another, he faces threats from rivals and pressure from his family, and has to choose between loyalty and duty. Nam Naadu is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Lion (2006), which starred Dileep. It was directed by Suresh Krissna, the director of Rajinikanth's Baashha and Annaamalai, and gave Sarathkumar a political role at a time when he was also active in real politics. Vadivelu supplies the comedy.
