Arumpon grew up looking after his younger sister Thulasi after their father's death, and the two share a bond everyone in their large, quarrelsome joint family knows. His uncles and cousins look down on them, but Arumpon cares only that Thulasi is happy. When she is married into the family of a man who has a grudge against Arumpon, he must swallow his pride and protect her without breaking her new home, even as the tensions between the two households grow. Namma Veettu Pillai ("our family's son") is a warm, crowded village family drama from Pandiraj, who specialises in such films. It became one of Sivakarthikeyan's biggest hits, and D. Imman's song "Unkoodave Porakkanum" became an anthem of sibling love.
