Three outlaws, played by the screen's best-known villains Pran, Ajit and Anwar Hussain, abduct a little girl, expecting an easy ransom. Hiding out with the child, they find her innocence, chatter and affection getting under their skin, and the men who planned to use her start, one by one, to care for her more than for the money. Balraj Sahni and Padmini appear in key supporting roles. Nanha Farishta ("little angel") is remembered for its unusual casting, which turned three of Hindi cinema's most feared bad men into the heroes of a sentimental family drama, and for Baby Rani's performance as the child. T. Prakash Rao, a veteran of Telugu and Hindi cinema, directed it as a warm-hearted entertainer with songs.
