Nanhe Munne (1952)

Nanhe Munne ("little ones") is a 1952 Hindi social drama directed by Datta Dharmadhikari, a Marathi filmmaker who also worked in Hindi. As its title suggests, the film centres on children who have lost their parents and must make their way through poverty, cruelty and the occasional kindness of strangers. Shakuntala, Sulochana and Raja Gosavi lead the adult cast. It is a modest, sentimental film of the early 1950s, typical of the social dramas of the period.
