A group of friends on a hunting trip kill a snake, not knowing it is a magical serpent able to take human form. Its mate, who can also turn into a beautiful woman, swears revenge and, taking human shape, begins to track down the men one by one, slipping into their lives before she strikes. Neeya? is one of Tamil cinema's best-known snake-revenge fantasies and follows the pattern of the Hindi hit Nagin (1976), with Sripriya in the central role of the vengeful serpent. Its ensemble cast brings together several leading Tamil men of the late 1970s, including a young Kamal Haasan, and the film is remembered for its songs and its blend of romance, fantasy and suspense.
