Seetharam is soft-spoken and incapable of lying, the son of an upright man who refuses to bend to the local strongman Devudu and the corrupt officials who serve him. When his father is framed and killed, Seetharam goes through police, courts and politicians looking for justice and finds every door bought. His mother, refusing to let him stay a victim, drives him to turn the same tools of corruption and influence against the men who ruined them. Teja, known for raw, angry dramas, gives the film a hard edge. Mahesh Babu won the Nandi Award for Best Actor for the role, an unusual one for a star who was then building a mass image, and Gopichand made a strong impression as the menacing Devudu before becoming a lead hero himself.
