Tony Kurishingal, the spoiled son of a wealthy family, boards the Madras Mail with his two friends, ready for a trip of drinking and pranks. On board they cause trouble for everyone, including the film star Mammootty, who happens to be travelling in the same coach and plays himself. Tony is also smitten by a young woman on the train. But during the night a passenger is murdered, the friends' behaviour makes them look guilty, and the comedy gives way to a mystery as the investigation begins. Dennis Joseph's script and Joshiy's direction keep almost the entire story on the moving train. The film is a favourite with fans for bringing Mohanlal and Mammootty together, with Mammootty appearing as himself, and its train comedy scenes are still widely quoted in Kerala.
