Paapi Gudiya (1996)

Paapi Gudiya ("The Sinful Doll") is a 1996 Hindi horror film in which the soul of a dead criminal passes into a child's doll, which then begins to stalk and kill those around it. Karisma Kapoor and Avinash Wadhavan play the leads drawn into the nightmare. As the doll's victims mount, the people around it struggle to convince anyone that a toy could be behind the deaths, and must find a way to destroy the spirit before it claims the people they love. The film is widely seen as the Hindi answer to the Hollywood killer-doll film Child's Play. Directed by Lawrence D'Souza, better known for the romantic hit Saajan, it has since gained a minor cult following among fans of 1990s Hindi horror for its earnest special effects.
