Paltan (2018)

Five years after the 1962 war, Indian and Chinese soldiers stand almost nose to nose on the Nathu La pass in Sikkim. When Lieutenant Colonel Rai Singh takes command of the Indian battalion there, daily shoving matches over a few metres of mountain ridge escalate into a dangerous stand-off, and his men must decide how far they will go to hold the line. Paltan dramatises the Nathu La and Cho La clashes of 1967, a little-remembered episode in which the Indian Army stood firm against Chinese forces. It is J. P. Dutta's third war film after Border and LOC Kargil, again with a large ensemble of soldiers and the wives and mothers waiting for them at home, and again with songs by Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar. Jackie Shroff plays the real-life general Sagat Singh.
