Jai is a quiet, deadly enforcer who works for Bhagavan, a powerful don in Kolkata who treats him almost like a son. Bhagavan's real son Munna is reckless, jealous and cruel, and when he commits an act that Jai cannot forgive, Jai breaks with the family, setting off a war with the underworld he once helped run. Panjaa ("Claw") was the Telugu debut of Tamil director Vishnuvardhan and is a sleek, moody gangster film rather than a typical Pawan Kalyan masala entertainer, with stylish cinematography and a score by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Jackie Shroff plays the don, and Adivi Sesh drew notice as the menacing Munna. The film opened big but had a mixed run, though it has since gained admirers for its look and tone.
