Buchi Paswan earns a meagre living pulling a cycle rickshaw in Ranchi, ferrying children to an expensive private school. His own son Bulbul is brilliant, and Buchi is determined that he will get the education that can lift the family out of poverty. When he manages to get the boy admitted, the fees and costs prove impossible, and in desperation Buchi turns to petty theft. A police officer who senses the boy's talent becomes involved, and the family's story turns into a wider question about who gets a good education in India. Prakash Jha, director of Gangaajal and Raajneeti, was inspired by real efforts to coach poor children for success. Adil Hussain gives a moving lead performance and Priyanka Bose plays his wife.
