Parthiban is a young man who has an ideal woman in his head, and when he glimpses a girl who seems to match it he falls completely. Later an arranged match brings him a bride who looks exactly like her, and he marries happily, until he sees the original girl again and realises that his wife is a different woman. Torn between the dream and the person he has married, he must decide what love really is. Sneha plays both women, in one of her best-remembered roles, opposite Srikanth. The film was the debut of writer-director Karu Pazhaniappan, and its warm handling of the story and Vidyasagar's songs made it a hit. It won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film. It has no connection to Kalki's novel of the same name.
