Pazhaya Vannarapettai (2016)

Set in the old Washermanpet area of North Chennai, which gives the film its title, Pazhaya Vannarapettai is a low-budget Tamil crime thriller. Prajin plays a young local man who is pulled into a murder case and becomes a suspect, forcing him to dig into the neighbourhood's politics and rivalries to clear his name. It was the first feature of director Mohan G., who later made the much-debated Draupathi and Rudra Thandavam. The film works on a small scale with a largely new cast, and its interest lies in its street-level setting.
