Pei Mama (2021)

Pei Mama gives comedian Yogi Babu a rare lead role in the horror-comedy format that Tamil cinema has loved since Kanchana. He plays a man who ends up in a sprawling haunted mansion, and the film draws its laughs from his panicked reactions to the spirits that live there, while slowly revealing why they cannot rest. Sakthi Chidambaram, known for broad comedies such as Charlie Chaplin, directs, with M. S. Bhaskar and Malavika Menon among the supporting cast. It is a light, undemanding entertainer that relies on Yogi Babu's timing more than on genuine scares.
