Chainsaws Polka Madhouse WERG Show — 1 March 2020

A polka radio broadcast, recorded off air. Polka radio is a living regional tradition in the United States rather than a historical curiosity: independent hosts programme two or three hours a week on small community and college stations across the polka belt — Chicago, Buffalo, Cleveland, western Massachusetts, the Pennsylvania coal towns — playing new releases alongside records decades old, reading out anniversaries and hall dates, and taking calls. Much of it was never recorded by anyone but the listeners. This is Chainsaws Polka Madhouse WERG Show, broadcast on 1 March 2020. The archive holds 8 editions of this programme. The host, the station and the records played are not written down anywhere in the file; they are spoken aloud in the broadcast itself.
