Sarathy is a cheerful, generous young man who has no family but treats his friends and neighbours as his own, and is always ready to help. When an astrologer's prediction about his life begins to seem true, he must choose between giving in to fate and living on his own terms, while romance and trouble with local villains complicate everything. Pudhiya Geethai, meaning 'a new Gita', was a rare Vijay film that tackled superstition and fate. It marked the Tamil debut of Amisha Patel, alongside Meera Jasmine, and its songs were composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
